{"id":416,"date":"2010-04-04T08:43:37","date_gmt":"2010-04-04T07:43:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.evertdekker.com\/wp\/?p=416"},"modified":"2023-01-03T16:05:43","modified_gmt":"2023-01-03T15:05:43","slug":"usb-to-rs-485","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/evertdekker.com\/wp\/?p=416","title":{"rendered":"Usb to Rs-485"},"content":{"rendered":"<hr \/>\n<p>Needed to connect my Friendlyarm Mini2440 to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.evertdekker.com\/wp\/?cat=18\">Joshua<\/a> bus an Usb to Rs-485 converter.Idea is the same as in my <a href=\"http:\/\/evertdekker.com\/Joomla\/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id=44&amp;Itemid=74\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Rs-485 to usb<\/a> converter to connect the Joshua bus to the pc.<\/p>\n<p>Schematic is not that special, it&#8217;s an copy from the datasheet of the FT232 from FTDI. Added only the OR port to prevent local echo when transmitting, this is also described in the datasheet.<br \/>\nThe converter needed to build in the wall with the Friendlyarm touchsreen the space was limited. Using an Usb a&lt;&gt;b cable took to much space, the connectors of these cables are bigger then the converter itself.<br \/>\nDecide to make a pcb that can direct plug in the usb connector of the Friendlyarm board. Pcb&#8217;s are normally 1.6mm thick and that&#8217;s just to thin to fit properly.
